Media Boxes Policies & Terms

At a glance

  • Service: Convert your DVDs/Blu-rays/CDs to files and set up a ready-to-use Media Box Computer (Jellyfin by default; Plex on request).
  • Where: Local service + U.S. shipping.
  • Capacity: 1–400 discs per standard order; ~50 discs/day; typical ~1 unit a week.
  • Fit guarantee: Your chosen plan (25/50/100/200/400) will always have room for what you send. Upon full storage capacity some transcoding/compression may occur.

1) Eligibility & ownership

  • By sending the discs you confirm you own them.
  • Conversions are for personal time-shifting and private playback.

2) Media accepted

  • DVD, Blu-ray, and CDs.
  • No exclusions beyond basic functionality: if a disc reads, I’ll process it.
  • TV box sets & multi-disc collections are supported.
  • Counting: Each physical disc = 1 (no labeling required).

3) Processing defaults

  • Video: Remux to MKV by default keeping original quality. To ensure your selected plan fits the number of discs you’ve chosen, some titles may be transcoded and compressed as needed.
  • Audio: All tracks kept as-is; stereo downmix available on request.
  • Subtitles: Whatever the disc includes (forced/full/SDH) kept as tracks.
  • Deinterlacing: Applied where needed.
  • Extras: Extracted when present.
  • Library structure:
    • movies / <movie name> / <movie>.mkv
    • shows / <show name> / season <#> / episode <#>.mkv
  • Metadata & artwork: Handled by Jellyfin/Plex.

4) Platforms & configuration

  • Jellyfin (default): Installed on a TrueNAS-based Media Box; We create your user.
  • Remote access: Off by default; can be added in your plan.
  • Plex: Server-side setup available on request.

5) Delivery, retention & privacy

  • Files are delivered on the Media Box We return to you..
  • We keep zero backups of your content; any working copies are securely deleted after delivery.
  • Customer info (not payment details) is kept indefinitely to support you later; never sold.

6) Turnaround & communication

  • Typical orders complete in ~1 week (throughput about 50 discs/day).
  • You’ll receive status emails: 25% deposit received → Discs received → Machine built → Discs converted → 75% payment received → Return shipment sent.
  • Response hours: 8am–6pm.
  • Only use contact methods in the Contact page

7) Support policy

  • We will assist as long as it takes to get your apps installed and streaming with the exact configuration we provided.
  • If the system is tampered with, the guaranteed help is void (We may still help at my discretion).
  • You’ll receive a Quick-Start PDF + video.

8) Payments & refunds

  • Deposit: 25% due to book your order.
  • Balance: Remaining 75% due before we ship back your discs and Media Box.
  • Methods: PayPal, card, or cash (local or mailed).
  • Proof: We provide a short video showing the system working before final payment.
  • Refunds: You may request a refund after paying the 25% deposit but only before paying the remaining balance; return shipping is still owed.

9) Shipping & handling (U.S.)

  • Inbound to me: You’re responsible for safe packing and choosing any shipping protection. We are not liable for damage on receipt.
  • Return to you: We pad/pack carefully. If you did not purchase shipping protection on the form, I’m not liable for carrier damage or loss.
  • Local service: By appointment only; no curbside drop-off.

10) Fit guarantee

  • Your selected plan size (25/50/100/200/400) will always accommodate the discs you send.
  • If storage is reaching full capacity, we may transcode/compress some titles to ensure everything fits.

11) Limits & disclaimers

  • Playback quality depends on your home network and playback devices.
  • The MediaBox will not function through Wifi. Ethernet is required.
  • When transcoding/compression is applied, quality may be slightly reduced versus untouched remux; we target sensible, watchable settings.
  • I’m not responsible for outages/changes in third-party apps (Jellyfin/Plex) or your ISP/network.
  • We only test media is loaded correctly (Opening media files, scrubbing through the movie). We do not fully watch any file.
  • Any illegal media will be reported if found.
  • We reserve the right to decline work that risks equipment or violates these terms.
